Door Knocker

Well I don't have much to contribute as I have been very busy for the past few weeks. Having some family from Boston for Christmas, it is going to be after New Year that things will calm down :).

In the mean time have found pictures of very interesting door knockers, my favorite is the cat and mouse one, see if you can find a favorite too.

Harris Tweed

Harris Tweed is hand-woven in the Scottish Isles of Lewis and Harris, Barra and Uist. During 1846-7 Highland potato famine, Countess of Dunmore played a big role in promoting and developing Harris Tweed as a sustainable local industry.

Tweed has traveled a long way. Tweed started as “tweel” Scots for twill. Story goes that round1830 a London Merchant misread tweel for tweed, and 182 years later it is still Tweed popular than ever.

Dad

These last few months have been crazy; we have gone through tornado outbreaks, hail storms, earthquakes, health scares what not, but all hell broke when I lost my father.  Some friends who had lost their fathers, said life is never the same after that. They were absolutely right. Time is a great healer, but do you ever get over this loss?

I am glad he lived a very active and full life of 85 years, and was happily married for 55 years to my mother. Hope we all live good happy and purposeful lives like he did.

Best wishes.

"Caged Bird" by Maya Angelou

The title and inspiration for this poem came from a line in Paul Dunbar's poem
"Sympathy"

A beautiful poem by Dr. Maya Angelou who is a great human being and a great scholar.
I Hope I will be able to go back to normal routine by next week. Have a nice weekend.

Gant, Fall/winter 2012 collection

It was the labor day weekend, hence a long weekend. But again it got very hot, 104F (40C). (Yes in America we do Labor day in September instead of May).

Because of the heat we decided to stay home, did some gardening projects, washed the cars, browsed the internet and watched movies.

While browsing the net, I explored Fall/Winter 2012 collections of various designers and clothiers. Here are a few pictures from the Gant fall/winter collection.
