Ralph Lauren the interior designer

Ralph is one of my favorite interior designer. I am not crazy about his over priced clothes with over sized horsey logos, but I am crazy about his interiors.  He does magic, layer upon layer, very classy, very classic and timeless.  One thing Ralph Lauren, Katharine Hepburn and myself in common, we all like to layer Persian rugs. Here are some of my favorite pictures from RL's interiors.

  1. I really like your post on Ralph Lauren and his interior decor. I must say that I enjoy the photos of his designs on your blog. With all these modern designs and trends that's popular nowadays it's a relief to know that there are still these timeless necessities we all like to call "classics". Keep up the great eye and happy living!

  3. Ralph Lauren has been a favorite of mine from his beginnings in the interior design field. I have wondered if he does his own work when it comes to interiors or employs stylists to do it for him. Whatever the case, I use his linens, china, and yes, even have some of his over priced clothing, although not the high end items. I agree that those have ridiculous prices! In the meantime, his home interiors line will remain my favorite!

  4. K Murray-Lindsey it must be the designers who do RLs interiors but he is the one who has the original idea and the last say :) I think.

  5. RL hires top interior designers to work for his collections and for the interiors that has its name. No doubt, RL has the vision of Ralph Lauren and his wife. When they started decorating their mansions, at the beginning they were using the most famous designers of those times --Donghia etc, then they developed their taste and knowledge about collectibles, life style, art, interior designs and his wife is very much hands on. But guys if you say that RL clothes are expensive, the furniture its so more unaffordable. Although they have understated look some of them, they are very pricey objects. Wallpapers and fabrics are more affordable and they can make a statement in an interior, even if you use lower priced level furniture objects and lightings. Don't get me wrong guys, I love RL interiors --they are timeless, luxurious, eclectic, classical interpretations, sometime understated look for a refined interior! I love his interiors!

    1. Thanks for your detailed comments. You are absolutely right they are timeless and classic. As someone who owns some of RL furniture I know first hand how expensive it is, but then one can not deny the quality of it. My bedroom set cost almost like a brand new midsize car :) but whosoever sees it knows it is not ordinary stuff.
