Alidad's Timeless Homes...
Known for his opulent and elegant interiors, Alidad born in Iran, raised and studied in Europe is as International as one can be.
After graduating from London University became one of the
youngest departmental directors at Sotheby’s for Islamic art and textiles. In 1985 he launched his own design firm Alidad Ltd, in London and rest is
history.
Since he mostly works in Europe and Middle East, he may not be very well known here but in that part of the world he is a celebrity.
Alidad has recently published a book “Alidad the Timeless
Home” which is a visual treat.

Baking!
It has been very cold for last one week here in Oklahoma. One fine day we went from 65F to 18F in a matter of hours, and now are below freezing for so many days. It is icy and frigid outside (7F right now), so I decided to experiment with my baking. Bake of yesterday; Pizza and and bread. In both the cases, improvised with whatever ingredients were available.

Lately I saw some pictures of Paris during Christmas season, the city looks magical. I have not been in Paris during this time of the year, I am making sure that my next visit is in the Christmas season.

Hot air balloon!
On the morning commute saw this hot air balloon right in front. Couldn't resist taking a picture (there were no other cars or creatures in the street). A perfect fall day for flying in the hot air balloon. Calm winds and 40F.

Windsor Chair

In our bathroom we have an old Windsor chair
bearing patina of age. The other day sitting on it I just wondered why is it
called “Windsor Chair”. So the quest for the history of Windsor chair
begun. Here it is what I found out, In
case you didn’t know it too.
It is not clear when the first Windsor chair
was made. However there is evidence that around 16th century chair
spindles were made the way wheel spokes were and perhaps the first Windsor
chairs might have been born around that time.
As far as the christening of the chair is
concerned, it is speculated that by 1724 the bulk of Windsor chairs were
produced and marketed from Windsor, Berkshire, (of course Great Britain)
therefore they derived their name “Windsor Chair.”
By the 18th century, steam was used
to bend the chair to make the bow of the chair. The chair has since evolved
into seven distinctive styles:

Comb-back
Low-back
Rod-back
Fan-back
Continuous arm
