McPherson College Car Show

Last Saturday some friends and two of us drove two hundred miles to represent Mercedes Benz Club of America at the McPherson College 13th annual Car Show, in McPherson, Kansas. McPherson College has world’s only 4 year accredited Bachelors degree program in auto restoration. (Will do a post some time later on our visit to the facilities of McPherson College auto restoration program). The college organizes this car show every year and is very well attended. Most of the emphasis is on Classic American automobiles but foreign classics are also well represented especially Mercedes Benz. Though it was a warm balmy 90 F day, we enjoyed it thoroughly here are some pictures to share the event with you.

  1. Hello:
We too should be prepared to travel some distance to see this motor show. It looks to be absolutely amazing and the condition of the cars is exemplary.

What has also intrigued us, looking at your splendid photographs, is the wide range of types of vehicles represented here. That does make it all even more fascinating.

In Brighton, there are many vintage car rallies organised throughout the year and, when we are there, we always go to look. One of our favourites is the 'Mini' rally since we owned these for many, many years until the production of the 'old' Mini ceased. The new version just was not the same at all!!

  2. Jane and Lance you are right about these cars. Not every car was restored, a lot of them were all original cars with some patina of age. From early horseless carriages to a Chevrolet Volt and Ford to Ferrari all were there.

I completely understand your opinion about the Mini, the old ones were really cute and completely English cars, the new ones are BMWs with Mini badge.

  3. Thanks for the great post and photos... I do want to point out that the college and show is actually in McPherson, Kan, rather than Newton.
Just want to make sure people come to the right place if they visit! :)

  6. Thanks Karena. I am in Oklahoma City, just 5 hours from KC. KC is very important for us, we have lived there, my wife went to UMKC, have family and friends there and last but not least my in-laws are from Kansas City :) it is a small world.

    Best wishes
